BENEVOLENT JOURNEY
The Story
This piece gained her name from an old, weathered iron sign discovered in a gorgeous, turn-of-the-century Galveston cemetery following the Great Storm. Though I have visited and photographed this sacred space all my life, I had never once seen this hidden section. I was searching for my favorite aunt's graveside and became completely lost, only to realize I was being guided directly to this spot, nowhere near her resting place. As soon as I stumbled upon that iron sign, I knew it was her name—a moment of pure goosebump validation and love.
Painted completely intuitively, a subtle, abstract apparition naturally revealed itself on the canvas, emerging gracefully from a serene landscape of soothing plums, deep indigos, and dark olivine greens. Serving as an intimate visual sanctuary, this completed original masterwork is designed to bring a profound sense of light, quiet comfort, and emotional restoration to any interior space.
